Pet photo shoot

12 photos

Pet photo shoots are becoming more and more of a hit. Just like photographs with other members of the family, pets are part of it too, and lovers of dogs, cats and even snakes love to immortalise their bond with them in the form of photographs.

We most often photograph dogs, but we have also had a beautiful snake, a bunny and a tomcat in front of the lens. Photographing dogs, cats or other animals is very specific, and also for the sake of a safe shoot it is necessary to discuss such a shoot with the photographer beforehand. We shoot outdoors, but by arrangement also in the studio.

About the session

Planning a pet photo shoot

Before planning a photo shoot with your pet, you should bear in mind that you are the one responsible for its behaviour during the shoot. Ideally, you have had the animal for a longer time and know its nature, and you know how to handle it so that the shoot can go ahead without any problems. For natural reasons, a pet photo shoot cannot drag on and has to be completed in as short a time as possible. It usually takes up to 1 hour, but we have also had a shoot of several show animals with styled set-ups that lasted 3 hours.

The adorable world of pets

In the rush of modern life, one of our joys is the presence of our beloved pets. Whether they are curled up at our feet, greeting us with wagging tails, purring contentedly in our lap or simply waiting for us at home. These loves of ours have a remarkable ability to brighten our days and enrich many a photograph.

Health benefits of pets

We do pet photo shoots often, not only together with family members, children or the whole family, but also on their own. Living with pets brings us a host of health benefits. Including reduced stress levels, lower blood pressure and improved mental well-being, they shower us with love. Whether providing emotional support to individuals with mental health problems or serving as therapy animals in hospitals and care homes, pets have a remarkable ability to heal and comfort those in need. These are also the reasons why they must not be missing from shared photos!

What pet photo shoots have we done?

WITH DOGS

Yes, most often we have met at shoots with dogs. Photographing dogs is also a bit of a celebration of the special bond we share with our canine companions. By understanding their soul, choosing the right settings and capturing moments of action and emotion, together we create timeless photographs that serve as a precious reminder of the joy, love and companionship they bring into our lives every day.

WITH CATS

Photographing cats is completely different from photographing dogs. It is an art that requires patience, observation and a deep sensitivity to these mysterious creatures. From their graceful movements to their curious expressions, every moment with a cat presents an opportunity to capture a unique and captivating shot. Photographing these pets is just as much about connecting with them. We approach every shoot with patience, creativity and an open heart. The final photographs will show you the unique charm and personality of your feline companion.

WITH SNAKES

We have also photographed with snakes several times. At this kind of shoot, we put safety and respect for the animal first. We always make sure that we are working with a snake that is comfortable to handle and photograph, and we also treat it gently and carefully. For every shoot like this, we also arrange expert supervision and handling. These are mostly glamour shoots or other specialised shoots.

A funny experience from a pet photo shoot

We had a racing bunny in the studio. A little girl wanted to be photographed with her pet, but at the last minute it decided to give her a little chase! It was quite an experience for all of us, because it gave us a hard time before we caught it. But the result was wonderful! The bunny was slightly frightened, and in the photographs this gave it a very adorable expression. In the end, there was joy all round.

An accidental animal model

This shoot actually took place in Dubai, right by the residence of the royal family, but it was unforgettable! The original plan was sports photographs by a park and running track, where a magnificent peacock came to show off. My client and I had never seen such a performance before in our lives. We even managed to capture some of it! This memory will stay with us forever.

Unexpected companions at the shoot

While photographing a family with children by a lake, swans and ducks unexpectedly swam up to the shore. Some even came out of the water and so completed a scene we had not even dreamed of at the start. The result exceeded the expectations of everyone involved.

Fun together

A photo shoot with pets is a fun activity that lets you create memories and share joyful moments with your animal companions. It is an opportunity to create precious and unforgettable shots that you can happily look back on far into the future.

Connection and bond

Photographs with pets make it possible to document and strengthen the connection and bond between you and your animal friend. These photographs capture your pet's personality and charm and serve as a reminder of how important your relationship is.

Precious moments

Every day with your pet brings new and precious moments worth capturing. From playful times to calm moments of rest, photography makes it possible to capture the full range of your animal's emotions and behaviour.

Memories for many years

Photographs with pets serve as a lasting keepsake of shared moments and events. With them you can preserve memories of your animal's young and playful years as well as its mature and calm period, and your moments together.

Growing the community

Sharing photographs of your pets on social media helps to grow the community of animal lovers and to share memories with other people who have a similar passion and interests. Among other things, a photo shoot with your pet can even help you make new friends.

Raising awareness about animals

Photographs with pets can also help spread awareness of the importance of caring for animals and respecting them. Sharing beautiful and positive shots of your animal can inspire people to take responsible care of their own pets.

Risks of photo shoots with pets

A photo shoot with pets can be a fun and enriching experience, but it is important to be aware of certain risks associated with this activity. Some of them include the following:

SAFETY OF ANIMALS AND PEOPLE

Some animals can behave unpredictably, especially when they are nervous or irritated. When photographing larger or exotic animals, it is important to consider the risk of a possible attack. That is why it is important to have sufficient knowledge of the behaviour and needs of such a creature and always to respect its personality and well-being.

ALLERGIC REACTIONS

Some people may be allergic to animal fur, saliva or other allergens, which can cause unpleasant allergic reactions such as skin rashes, sneezing or breathing difficulties. Before a photo shoot with pets, it is important to find out whether anyone on the team is allergic to animals.

STRESS FOR PETS

Some animals may feel stress or anxiety in an unfamiliar environment or when the camera is being handled around them. It is important to respect your animals' boundaries and not expose them to unnecessary stress. That is why the pet's owner needs to work with it patiently in advance and prepare it for this kind of handling, so that everyone feels comfortable and safe.

PHYSICAL RISKS IN PET PHOTO SHOOTS

With some types of photography with pets, such as shoots with large dogs or exotic animals, there may be a risk of physical injury to the photographer or the animals. When handling pets, it is important to follow safety measures and minimise the risk of injury.

UNSETTLING THE PET

Using a flash or loud noises from the camera can likewise unsettle some animals and cause them anxiety or stress. When photographing pets, it is important to minimise the use of flash and try to keep the environment calm and pleasant. Where possible, we prefer shooting outdoors.

PERSONAL SPACE

Some animals have their own “personal space” and may feel uncomfortable if they are too close to other people or if we handle them. It is important that we respect the personal boundaries of every animal and do not intrude into their space without their consent or without the owner's assistance.

Pet photo shoot information

It is always necessary to weigh up all the risks and prepare for a photo shoot with pets with their safety and well-being in mind, so that the experience is pleasant and safe for everyone involved.
